Israel Responsible for the Repercussions of Ofra's Outrage

The president Mahmoud Abbas strongly condemned Tuesday evening the vicious attack the Palestinian prisoners were liable to in the Israeli detention of Ofra facility by the Israeli soldiers in which 20 prisoners were injured.

"We strongly denounce such an attack on our prisoners detained at Ofra jail and the assault on the striver Abed al Raheem Malouh who was hit in a fraction in his lower jaw, a grave breach to the international laws and regulations, "President Abbas said.

Holding Israel fully responsible for the repercussions of the iniquitous attack on the Palestinian prisoners the presidents Abbas stressed "the release of the prisoners from the Israeli jails is a paramount first-class national task and will continue forehead our agenda until our prisoner are released."

The Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS), Bethlehem-based, said in a statement, that twenty of Palestinian detainees in Ofer Israeli detention facility were injured last night after an Israeli occupation special force "Mitzada" broke into the award (2) of the facility, sprayed tear gas at the detainees and fired rubber-coated bullets.

Also, the soldiers of the special unit attacked Abdul-Rahim Mallouh, the jailed member of the executive committee of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, assistant of the secretary general of the Popular Front, and severely punched him causing a fraction in his lower jaw

Dozens of detainees suffocated after inhaling, while others were injured after the soldiers attacked and hit them with the batons and weapons.

According the PPS statement, the clashes between the prison administration and the detainees had broken out when the administration of the facility brought a roll-call of three prisoners identified as Abed Al Raheem Malouh, Niddal Abu Aker and Abu Alaa Al Qassas to be transferred into a solitary confinement in central prisons.

Despite the agreement clinched between the Ofra prison administration and the Dialogue committee representing the prisoners, according to which the prison Administration has no right to move any of the members of the committee and to stay permanently in Ofra facility but the administration negates the agreement and insisted to move the three prisoners to the central committee.

When the detainees protested against the decision, the facility administration was placed on high alert and brought more than 3000 soldiers including members of the special unit Mitzada , dedicated to free hostages and storming in the closed places.

At 1:00 am, the IOF soldiers stormed into the facility fired tear gas canister, rubber coated steel and hot fire-cannons against the detainees in particular at award no. (2) where Malouh has been jailed.

The clashes continued until 2:00 am the soldiers controlled on the Award (2) after 600 soldiers stormed it, wrecked havoc to the tents, set them on fire, torn up the mattress, sprayed tear gas and severely beaten the detainees who flanked Malouh.

Detainees of Nafha prison, who have not spared such cruelty, show solidarity with their comrades and go today through a hunger strike, on a demand of improving the humanitarian incarceration conditions.

In a letter, sent out to the Al Assra information center, the detainees appealed the relative international and humanitarian institutions to move swiftly and press on the Israeli occupation authorities to bow to their demands.
